Totley Masters at Arms!
Totley entered two teams into the recent shooting (Marksman) competition at Hesley Woods, that was organised and run by leaders from around Hallam District, with 13 teams competing. Some fantastic archery and rifle skills were on display, with our Monday night scout team securing second place in the competition! Huge well done to everyone for getting stuck in, and to Sam and Georgia Marston who were subsequently awarded their Master at Arms badges. Wear them with pride!
We spoke with Lilja, one of the Scouts who entered, and she said about her experience: “Before I got there I was a bit nervous, but when we had started I realised I had nothing to worry about and it was going to be a lot of fun. We started by going to the air rifle shooting area where we got 10 practice shots on 2 different air rifles before doing our actual shots and some people even got bullseye! We also got to practice our archery shots and I could see how everyone rapidly improved. The last girl was being watch by everyone and under great pressure she hit bullseye! We had a challenging yet exciting and fun day, thank you!”
Big thanks to Mick Hollindale and John Lawry (our Friday Scout Section and Explorers Leaders respectively) who put on some archery and rifle practice sessions for both Scout sections, which really made a difference. Thanks also to Adam and Mick, our two Scout section leaders, who were down at the competition helping out.
