Archery for Scouts with leader Mick Hollindale who recently received 50 years service award

Our Scouts (10.5 – 14 year olds) recently came together on a Saturday for an archery session at our Scout hut. The children had a great time and learnt new skills.

Exciting opportunities like these wouldn’t be possible without our fantastic leaders, this event was organised by Mick Hollindale, Scouts leader, who has given an incredible 50 years of service to Scouting!

The Scout group recognised this on St George’s Day last April, following an exciting Scavenger Hunt which took us on a nice local walk, with tricky clues and questions creating some brilliant discussions. Many thanks to Mick and Sue for organising it. Our Scout Group Leader, Sue Bridgens, acknowledged the amazing work, support and dedication Mick has given to Scouting for the past 50 years:

“Mick has touched the lives of so many young people over the last 50 years and given them many memories and life changing experiences. Some of those young people we still bump into occasionally and everyone has a story to tell or a memory to recall of their time in Scouting. 50 years on and Mick is still helping young people to have the amazing experiences that Scouting has to offer. It makes me very proud and gives me the greatest pleasure to award Mick his 50 year-long service award and say a heartfelt ‘thank you’ from all those past and present whose lives you have been part of.” – Sue concluded in her thanks on the day and can both be seen in the photos.

Not all of our leaders have been involved with Scouting for as long as Mick, some have only just joined us, but are already making fantastic contributions, others have been with us for a few years. But we are in great need for more leaders, especially for the Scouts, please be in touch at totley1stscouts@gmail.com if you would like to discuss this opportunity to influence young people’s lives.
